1 lb basmati rice
1 lb lentils
1 lb ground beef or lamb
4 oz chopped pitted dates
4 oz raisins
ΒΌ tsp Zaafron
2 sliced onions
Olive oil
Salt
Black pepper
Directions:
Soak rice and lentil for 2 hours in separate bowls
Bring 6 cups of water and 1 tbsp of salt to boil
Drain the rice and add to boiling water and cook for 5 minutes (half cooked)and darin
Repeat the same with the lentil but cook for 15 minutes
Fry onion to golden
Add ground meat, salt and pepper, and fry over medium heat for 10 minutes
Add one cup of hot water and cook until water absorbed
In a different pot add 1/2 cup of water and 3 tbsp olive oil
Add half of the rice and spread it
The same way add the lentil
Sprinkle the dates and the raisins over
Spread the other half of the rice over
Cover and cook over low heat for 25 minutes
Dissolve saffron in 1/4 cup of hot water and sprinkle over
Serve either mixed or as is
