7 cups flour
½ lb butter or margarine
2 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp salt
3 cups water
Directions:
Mix all ingredients except the butter to achieve smooth dough
Cover with wet towel and let rest for an hour
Make about 12 balls, cover with wet towel and let rest for half hour
Grease a surface with butter
Roll each dough ball to the thinnest layer possible
Spread butter on about 2 inches of the layer and fold over
Spread butter on this fold and fold again
Repeat to the end of the layer
Now you should have a long flat layered stripe
Starting from one end of the stripe, roll to a spiral
Cover the spirals with plastic wrap and store in refrigerator for 2 hours (you may also freeze and use at any time later)
Take each spiral and roll with dough roller
Fry in a covered pan until brown, flip over and fry the other side
